According to the coaching staff of the Vietnamese athletics team, members of the women's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams will go to Japan on September 12.
The players of these 2 relay teams arrived in Japan early for training and practice to get used to the climate and competition venue before entering ASIAD 20.
The final training program in Japan for the above 2 events lasts 2 weeks. The ASIAD 20 athletics event will take place from September 24 to September 29.
The Vietnamese athletics team aims to strive to win a gold medal at ASIAD 20.
The 4x100m women's relay and 4x400m women's relay are the hopes of competing for the highest results of the Vietnam Athletics Team.
This year at the 2026 Asian Relay Championships, the women's 4x400m relay team of Vietnamese athletics won a gold medal with a time of 3 minutes 31 seconds 16, while the women's 4x100m relay team reached 4th place (44 seconds 13).
The players who arrived in Japan early include Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh, Le Thi Tuyet Mai (4x400m women's) and Hoang Du Y, Kha Thanh Truc, Le Thi Cam Tu, Phung Thi Hue, Ha Thi Thu (4x100m).
Last August, athletes of the above 2 events trained in China.
All just returned to Vietnam but continued to go to Japan earlier than their teammates to prepare for ASIAD 20.
The Vietnamese athletics team has 25 athletes competing at ASIAD 20.
At ASIAD 19, the Vietnamese athletics team did not win a medal.
However, this year, the leaders of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation assessed that athletics athletes will be able to create surprises.
Currently, the Vietnam Athletics Federation offers a "hot" bonus of 500 million VND for each gold medal in relay events and 300 million VND for individual gold medals.
