Nguyen Thi Oanh is currently the most experienced and elderly athlete in the national team squad training in 2026.
Last June, Nguyen Thi Oanh competed in the Taiwan International Athletics Tournament (China) 2026. She won a silver medal in the 5,000m event.
Nguyen Thi Oanh is training in Vietnam with coach Tran Van Sy.
Currently, the coaching staff of the national team still keeps secret the content that will register Nguyen Thi Oanh to compete at ASIAD 20.
At ASIAD 19 held in China, Nguyen Thi Oanh competed in the 3000m steeplechase and 1,500m women's events. She won 6th place in the 3000m steeplechase and 7th place in the 1,500m women's events.
In 2018, Nguyen Thi Oanh competed in ASIAD 18 held in Indonesia.
She won a bronze medal in the 3,000m obstacle course at that time with a time of 9 minutes 43 seconds 83. This is Nguyen Thi Oanh's best result in her ASIAD competitions.
A year ago, Nguyen Thi Oanh was still the main athlete of the Vietnamese athletics team at SEA Games 33 in Thailand.
She won 3 gold medals respectively in the results of 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m and 10,000m women's at SEA Games 33.
