According to Lao Dong, at the 33rd SEA Games hosted by Thailand at the end of this year, the Vietnam Sports Delegation is expected to have 1,000 members attending, including nearly 50 doctors, medical staff, and team leaders.
This number will be adjusted after the teams select personnel suitable for each goal, in the period near the time of the Congress.
Previously, at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, the Vietnam Sports Delegation attended with 1,003 members, including 702 athletes, 189 coaches, 10 experts and other members.
According to the official announcement of host Thailand, the 33rd SEA Games will have 50 sports with a total of 547 sets of medals. In particular, the strengths of Vietnamese sports such as football, athletics, wushu, swimming, boxing, gymnastics, weightlifting, cloud golf, jujitsu... are still organized.
In addition, two other sports, shooting and archery, will return (SEA Games 32 will not be held). Therefore, we are able to compete for medals in these events.
The achievements at the last 2 Games are the basis for the sports industry to set targets for the 33rd SEA Games. Initially, Vietnamese sports aim to win 75 to 85 gold medals. However, this is only a reference figure, because there is still a need to determine the specific contents as well as evaluate from the training process of each sport.
Currently, Vietnamese sports have completed the registration of the number of sports and the number of events but have not announced them. At this time, the preparation plan and performance targets were reported by the departments to the leaders of the Department of Physical Education and Sports.
The upcoming SEA Games are expected to bring many difficulties and challenges for the Vietnamese sports delegation, especially when countries in the region such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and host Thailand have all prepared carefully since last year.
