Coach Claudio Ranieri has officially signed a 1-year contract with Nantes Club in League-1, France. Before coming to Nantes, Ranieri had difficulties because he was too old to comply with the regulations.
When coming to Nantes, many fans of this club still thought that the club's leadership "casts" Ranieri with the achievements he had with Leicester City in the 2015-16 season. However, at the press conference to launch the new Club, "The Welding Man" did not give that reason.
"What I did at Leicester, we should forget about it because it is a thing of the past. It is far from what I will have here.
Nantes has won 8 titles in this tournament, which is an impressive achievement. I am very honored to be here. What we need to do now is to stay humble, thereby working together towards the good things ahead," Ranieri shared.
Currently, Nantes is still one of the 3 most successful clubs in French history with 8 championships. However, their most recent championship was in 2001 and for the past 16 years, Nantes have always struggled with the battle for relegation. Their highest position since 2001 is 7th place in the 2004 season.
"My motivation is still intact as long as I am still attached to football. Although I am quite worried about my family in my hometown of Italy, I now feel fine with life here," Ranieri shared.
The Italian coach will have 1 year of contract with Nantes. If everything goes smoothly in the next season, both sides will think about a longer future. Before coming to Nantes, "The weld" also expressed his intention to retire if he could not find a satisfactory workplace.
