The competition method will make it attractive
The 2025 National Volleyball Championship is the first season with only 8 men's teams and 8 women's teams participating. Previously, the number of teams participating in the National Volleyball Championship was usually 12 men's teams and 12 women's teams. After that, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation reduced the number of participating teams after many stages to keep the current number. General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation - Mr. Le Tri Truong once said that the reduction to 8 men's teams and 8 women's teams is to help the National Volleyball Championship improve its expertise and have more exciting matches.
Before the 2025 National Championship took place, the professional department of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation had calculated many ways to organize it. There is a plan to organize it in the form of a season (which lasts from the end of the previous year to the beginning of the following year) as many countries are implementing. However, this option is not feasible. The Vietnam Volleyball Federation still organizes the same two-round tournament as before.
"The method of organizing national tournaments needs to be reasonable so that players can compete most effectively. Each team has the best preparation of its forces as well as the right competition time for each round, representatives of many teams shared at the draw ceremony organized by the 2025 National Championship Organizing Committee in March this year.
In fact, at the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, each team will compete in 7 qualifying matches. After that, each team will continue to participate in the final round (including semi-finals, third-place matches, finals) or the qualifying round, competing for relegation. They have participated in 3 more matches in these rounds.
Thus, each team will play 10 national tournament matches throughout the season. At the Executive Committee meeting of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation in early September, some opinions were discussed on the organization. Everyone really hopes that the tournament will be done best in terms of expertise to serve fans and coaches and athletes to compete.
What does volleyball do to be professional?
The national volleyball championship has signed a sponsorship contract. The bonus for the national championship for men and women is 500 million VND/team. The tournament was broadcast live on television. In addition, the Video Eyes Challenge system has been equipped to serve refereeing expertise.
At this time, the athletes organizing the National Championship must have a large screen that meets the standards to serve the Video Eyes Challenge system. The above factors show that the Vietnam Volleyball Federation is actively renewing in many aspects over the seasons. The organizer aims for the same quality for volleyball, which is very popular in society.
However, the problem of not having many spectators to cheer for the National Volleyball Championship still has many solutions to find.General Secretary Le Tri Truong acknowledged that for Vietnamese volleyball to become professional, it will take time.We have looked at how to organize in some Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, etc. Each tournament has a different organization model.
Every year, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation and the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports always have an assessment of the professional organization of tournaments, thereby developing a plan for the following year.Surely the problem of audience absence in the second phase of the 2025 National Championship will be considered more carefully by the manager when choosing a venue to create attraction for the tournament.
