According to the organizers, the tournament attracts more than 10,500 domestic and international athletes to participate. The series of running events will take place from July 31 to August 2. The tournament is organized by Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) in coordination with Nexus Media Joint Stock Company (Nexus Sport Events).
On the first day, athletes carried out procedures to receive the racing kit, visit the Expo area and participate in many experiential activities before the official competition day.
This year's award is themed "The City Rhythm", combining sports, music and technology activities to create more experiences for participants, while promoting the image of Ho Chi Minh City.
The official competition day takes place on the morning of August 2 with three distances including half marathon (21.1km), 10km and 5km. Along the roads, many music stations will be arranged to create a lively atmosphere and cheer for the athletes throughout the competition journey.
According to the plan, the tournament aims to meet the standards to achieve the World Athletics Label certification in the coming years by improving professional quality, organization and tracks.
Notably, on the evening of August 1st, a music program will take place with the participation of singers Bich Phuong, Hoang Dung, Phung Khanh Linh and Vuong Binh to add more atmosphere for athletes before the competition day.
Mr. Nguyen Tu Anh - Director of Nexus Sport Events, the organizer of the tournament, said that the model combining sports, music and technology aims to build an annual running event with the unique identity of Ho Chi Minh City, while contributing to promoting the city's image to the domestic and international community.
The organizers also presented a symbolic plaque of 100 million VND to support the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Young Talent Fund to support the discovery, training and development of young athletes.
