Arsenal surprised Chelsea when they pressed Chelsea and opened the scoring in the 4th minute by Alexis Sanchez. Chelsea's defense stopped Sanchez's move into the blue zone when it thought the Chilean striker had let the ball touch his hand. The sideline referee raised the flag saying Ramsey was offside. After a consultation, referee Anthony Taylor still recognized this goal.
Chelsea's 3-4-3 system then proved to be much inferior to the "Gunners' 3-4-3 system". The Blues had difficulty attacking while Arsenal's players were playing enthusiastically, especially Sanchez, Welbeck, Xhaka.
Courtois' goal was rocked by the balls in the 16th and 19th minutes. After Cahill saved Chelsea from conceding a goal after Ozil's shot, the post became Chelsea's "savior" in Welbeck's header.
In the second half of the first half, Chelsea had a few chances to equalize. Goalkeeper David Ospina had to rush forward to block a powerful shot from Diego Costa. However, Arsenal's performance in the first half was much more convincing and they deserved another goal.
Chelsea started the second half with increased pressure on Arsenal's pitch. Kante and Moses had dangerous shots but they could not beat Arsenal's defense.
When the game was better in the first half, Victor Moses forced The Blues to play with one less player. This player received a second yellow card in the 68th minute. The referee said that Moses had fallen in Arsenal's penalty area.
In the 76th minute, Diego Costa lit up hope for Chelsea. Receiving the ball from Willian, the Spanish striker eliminated experienced center back Rob Holding, with a decisive shot to defeat Ospina.
However, just 2 minutes later, Ramsey put Arseanal in the lead again. Giroud headed the ball in from the left for his teammate. In this phase, the Welsh midfielder finished in a very comfortable position.
In the last 10 minutes of the match, Arsenal and Chelsea did not score any more goals despite having clear opportunities, especially the shot against the post by Mesut Ozil.
The 2-1 victory helped Arsenal win their 13th FA Cup title in the history of the tournament. This is a title that partly saved Arsenal's relatively disappointing season when they could not enter the top 4 of the Premier League.
