On this occasion, Dr. Julian Alvarez, Member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Council, shared professional perspectives on sports nutrition.
Sir, from your experience, what are the main pillars of a sports nutrition program that help athletes maintain their peak form?
It is very difficult to maintain continuous top form. In fact, when building a training program, the goal is to create a few times to peak the form of the year, corresponding to important tournaments.
However, it is important to support the body to maintain the ability to exercise continuously. And the key is proper nutrition and adequate rest after exercise.
How should you share how your nutrition be adjusted in three stages: preparation, competition and recovery?
Nutrition needs to be maintained continuously every day. During the preparation stage, nutrition helps the body adapt; during competition, the goal is to optimize performance; and during the recovery stage, nutrition supports the regeneration and repair of the body. The platform is still a healthy nutritional habit all year round.

For young athletes, what nutritional habits and lifestyles are most important for building a solid foundation to ensure long-term performance?
The most important thing is that young athletes understand the role of nutrition. The body is like a precision machine, requiring the right fuel. Overusing fast food can affect health and long-term career, while being aware of it will help build a sustainable foundation.
Many coaches and athletes are still learning about sports nutrition. In his experience, what is the most effective way to train athletes and coaches, so that they can apply scientific principles to reality?
The important thing is not to turn them into scientists, but to help them understand the connection between nutritional science, sports nutrition and supplements, as well as why these factors are important to them.

If you could give coaches around the world three main recommendations for integrating nutrition into their training programs, what would it be?
The first is to ensure adequate water supply.
Second, use the right nutrients to support recovery after high-intensity exercise.
Third, arrange the time to eat in accordance with the exercise schedule and the specific sport.
In the coming future, how will the role of sports nutrition science and technology develop in supporting athletes to achieve the best results?
In the future, nutrition and exercise will be optimized in parallel thanks to technology, towards accurate nutrition, where the diet is personalized to suit each athlete.
Sincerely thank you!
