Indonesia U23 coach Donald Vanenburg had a controversial behavior when he refused to shake hands with coach Kim Sang-sik after the Southeast Asian final.

In the video that went viral on social media and was published by the Indonesian press, Mr. Vanenburg took the initiative to shake hands, showing a cold attitude when coach Kim Sang-sik approached to shake hands after the match.

The Korean coach immediately turned away, his face clearly showing his discomfort. However, Mr. Vanenburg still shook hands with the U23 Vietnam players, showing that the tension was only aimed at the opponent's coaching staff.

Some opinions said that Vanenburg coach's reaction stemmed from a controversial situation at the end of the match, when Mr. Kim Sang-sik was accused of intentionally obstructing player Robi Darwis from throwing the ball away, leading to his yellow card by the referee.

The match also heated up in the technical area when a member of the U23 Vietnam coaching staff was said to have left many bottles of water outside the border. Indonesia's assistant goalkeeper coach Damian van Rensburg reacted strongly, rushed to clean up and was sent off.

Although leaving a not-so-beautiful impression after the match, U23 Vietnam still deserves the championship of the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship. The team will soon enter the preparation stage for the U23 Asian qualifiers in September and the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year.
