On the morning of March 1st, at the Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument ceremony yard, Dien Bien province organized the Launching Ceremony of the Sports and Physical Training Month for Everyone and the Olympic Running Day for National Health in 2026.
More than 2,000 people participated, representing all classes of people, including: Armed forces (Army, Police), civil servants, public employees, laborers, youth unions, women, farmers, along with a large number of students and the elderly.



After the launching ceremony, delegates and people ran about 1.5 km on Vo Nguyen Giap road (central of Dien Bien province).
Being the first year participating in the race, Nguyen Quynh Anh - a student of Dien Bien Provincial Ethnic Minority Boarding High School said: "Before running, I and my friends were quite excited. Running with aunts, uncles, and older siblings on Vo Nguyen Giap street has created a positive energy source for me right on the first day of March.
Not only attracting young people, Ms. Lo Thi Lich - Association of Elderly People of Muong Thanh ward, said: "For the elderly, health is a precious asset. Running with children and grandchildren feels like being young again.



According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Phu - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, the Launching Ceremony of the Sports and Physical Training Month for Everyone and the Olympic Running Day is a practical activity to celebrate the success of the 14th National Party Congress; towards the 16th National Assembly election day and delegates of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
This is also an opportunity for the province to continue to promote the campaign for the whole people to practice physical exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho, contributing to building a healthy lifestyle and cultural environment in the community" - Mr. Nguyen Minh Phu said.



The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Dien Bien's sports movement is increasingly developing and spreading deeply from urban to rural areas, in agencies and schools. The highlight is the intersection when traditional sports and folk games are preserved and promoted along with the development of modern sports.
To meet the increasing health training needs of the people, provincial leaders said that agencies and units in the area are actively investing in and upgrading the system of facilities and training grounds.
On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested all levels, sectors and agencies in the area to continue to pay attention to and organize more attractive cultural events, sports and tourism exchanges.
