On the morning of August 28, at Tho Quang beach (Son Tra ward, Da Nang city), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH-TT-DL) of Da Nang city in coordination with the Vietnam Boat Racing Federation officially opened the National Rowing Sea Boat Championship 2026.
The event is part of a series of national-scale water sports tournaments taking place from August 27 to August 30, hosted by the Da Nang City Sports Center. The series of events includes: National Youth Sailing Championship, National Youth Standing Rowing (SUP) Championship, Club Standing Rowing Championship and National 2026 Sea Rowing Championship.
The tournament attracted 230 male and female athletes from provinces, cities, and sectors across the country gathering in coastal city Da Nang to compete.



Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of Da Nang City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tao Viet Hai said that the city has a coastline of about 215 km with beautiful natural landscapes, favorable climate conditions and an increasingly synchronous tourism infrastructure system. This is a great advantage for Da Nang to develop sea sports, gradually forming sports products associated with tourism and service economy.
According to Mr. Tao Viet Hai, the hosting of this national series of tournaments aims to promote the movement of practicing Sailing, Rowing and Sea Rowing in the whole country. This is also an opportunity for athletes, especially young forces, to have conditions to compete and improve their skills. Thereby helping the Organizing Committee to inspect, evaluate and select the most promising faces to participate in national and international tournaments in the coming time.
At the National Sea Rowing Championship (taking place from August 27 to August 29 at Tho Quang beach), there are 102 athletes from 9 units including: Ca Mau, Dak Lak, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Tinh, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi and Thai Nguyen. Athletes will compete in 15 events for both men, women and mixed men and women in the U19, U23 and championship age groups.
Meanwhile, the Sailing and Standing Rowing Race (taking place from August 27 to August 30 at Thanh Khe beach, Nguyen Tat Thanh street) gathered 128 athletes from 7 units: People's Police, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Ha Tinh, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City.
At the end of the tournament, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Vietnam Boat Racing Federation will award the first, second, and third overall flags along with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals to units and individuals with outstanding achievements.
