On the afternoon of September 15, VTV Nam Bo coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City and the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation to hold a press conference to announce the National Billiards & Snooker Club Championship (Carom category) for the VTV Nam Bo Cup in 2026, combined with the 2026 National Young Carom Championship.
According to the Organizing Committee, the tournament was chosen to be held in Can Tho thanks to the strong development of the Billiards movement in the Southwest region, the support of local authorities and the success of previous tournaments. The event not only contributes to promoting the sports training movement, but also aims to promote culture, stimulate tourism demand and develop the economy for the Mekong Delta region.
These are tournaments belonging to the annual national competition system and are the first time being held in Can Tho City. The tournament is not only a basis for considering points on the national rankings and athlete level, but also an opportunity to select and nurture young talents to succeed Vietnamese Carom Billiards.
The tournament will take place from October 1st to October 10th, 2026 at the Can Tho City Sports Training and Competition Center (No. 03 Le Loi, Cai Khe ward, Can Tho City).
Journalist Phung Van Hiep - Deputy Director of VTV Nam Bo said that the number of registered athletes increased rapidly in the days close to the deadline. To date, the tournament has attracted more than 400 players to participate, of which Can Tho City contributed 110 representatives.
Journalist Phung Van Hiep emphasized that the event is not only a large-scale sports festival in response to the campaign "All people practice physical exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho", but also an opportunity to promote the image of a dynamic and hospitable Can Tho to audiences nationwide.
The tournament includes 4 events: Carom 3 men's ice hockey, Carom 1 men's ice hockey, Carom 3 women's ice hockey and Carom 3 men's ice hockey for young athletes under 22 years old.
The total prize value is up to 300 million VND. In which, the Men's 3-band Championship is 50 million VND; the First Prize for Women's 3-band & Men's 1-band is 40 million VND/content; the First Prize for Young Men's 3-band is 20 million VND along with prizes for other rankings.
