Teqball is 1 of 6 sports that first appeared in the competition program of the Asian Games. Everything is still too new, from approach, force to peak experience. In the continental arena, stepping onto the podium to receive medals right in the new competition is not lucky. Behind that is a process of rapid adaptation, persistent adaptation to a sport that is only 12 years old, along with the guidance and companionship of the coaching staff.
Looking back at history, in 1982, when Vietnamese sports participated in ASIAD for the first time after the country's reunification, the first medal won was also bronze (of shooter Nguyen Quoc Cuong in Shooting). Recalling it is not to be nostalgic, but to see that, at any congress, the first medal always carries a special mission. It is not only a recognition of efforts for individuals or groups of members, but also a move to relieve psychological pressure for the whole delegation.
People often talk about the Gold Medal target, to the highest positions, expressing aspirations. But medals, no matter what color, are exchanged for sweat, challenge and dedication. Teqball's Bronze Medal is a necessary spiritual boost for athletes in the next events to confidently enter the competition with the utmost calmness and determination.
And it will be even more special when that medal becomes a starting point with fundamental meaning, when Teqball is still quite unfamiliar to the majority of domestic audiences. The first continental medal can become a fulcrum for this sport to develop in Vietnam as a great potential that can bring back many achievements in the international arena.
The world Teqball rankings do not have any Vietnamese athletes, but who knows, in the not too distant future they will. And will gradually move up to higher levels. Every major journey begins with the first step, like the way Vietnamese Shooting has gone to be strong and achieve achievements like now...
