On November 3, at the Long Binh River section (Long Duc and Hoa Thuan wards), the opening ceremony of the Vinh Long Province Ngo Boat Race for the 620 Chau Thoi Cup 2025 took place enthusiastically. This is a highlight sports activity within the framework of the Vinh Long Province Culture, Sports and Tourism Week to celebrate the Ok Om Bok Festival.
This year's tournament has 18 boat teams with over 1,000 athletes from 9 clusters of communes and wards: Cau Ngang, Chau Thanh, Binh Phu, Ngu Lac, Cau Ke, Tieu Can, Tra Cu, Ngai Tu and Tra Vinh ward.
Each locality has 2 boat teams, including the men's and women's teams, competing in distances of 1,000m, 800m (men's) and 800m (men's and women's).
Each boat must have no more than 60 athletes, the combined male and female team must have at least 20 female athletes. The teams will draw matches in the form of direct elimination from the qualifying round, semi-finals to finals.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the qualifying and semi-final matches of the two men's boat events of 1,000m and 800m took place in front of thousands of people along both banks of the Long Binh River. The tournament is expected to end on the afternoon of November 4 after 27 matches.
