On the evening of May 16, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Vietnam Sports Administration, Vietnam Volleyball Federation, to organize the opening ceremony of the group stage of the National Volleyball League A 2026.
The 2026 National Volleyball League A has over 400 officials, coaches, and athletes from 24 volleyball teams (13 men, 11 women) participating. The group stage competition program of the tournament will take place at the Dien Bien Provincial Multi-purpose Sports Center, from June 16-30. 5.
Here, the teams will compete in a round-robin format to select 8 best men's and 8 best women's teams to compete in the Final round, which will be held in December in Thai Nguyen province.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Phu - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - said that, with the responsibility of being the host locality, the province has prepared the best conditions for facilities, equipment, and competition fields to serve the organization of the tournament.
Scenarios and plans to ensure security and order, health care, reception, and logistics have also been carefully prepared.
Previously, Dien Bien province successfully hosted two national volleyball tournaments: the semi-finals of the National Volleyball League A in 2013; and the finals of the National Volleyball League A in 2019.
The regulations of the 2026 National Volleyball League A are that the men's and women's champions will receive promotion slots to participate in the 2027 National Championship.
The 2026 National Volleyball League A allows teams to hire foreign players to strengthen their forces. Each team is allowed to register a maximum of 2 foreign players (not to overlap with foreign players of teams registered at the 2026 National Club Championship) and only 1 foreign player is allowed to play at all times.
