This is a vote to honor the players who left a strong mark in the history of the tournament. The names appearing with former striker Le Cong Vinh on this list include: Kiatisak Senamuang, Teerasil Dangda, Chanathip Songkrasin (Thailand), Noh Alam Shah, Khairul Amri (Singapore), Bampang Pamungkas (Indonesia) and Safee Sali (Malaysia).
“Le Cong Vinh is one of the best players to have ever won the tournament, not only because of his scoring ability, but also because of his number of appearances with six from 2004 to 2016.
His greatest moment came in 2008, when he helped Vietnam lift their first ever title at the tournament. Le Cong Vinh only scored two goals in the 2008 tournament, but his first goal secured a 2-1 win in the first leg of the final against Thailand in Bangkok and his second was a crucial header in the 90+4 minute in Hanoi to secure the title,” the tournament organizers wrote about Cong Vinh.
Being nominated as “Southeast Asian Legend” is a worthy recognition of Cong Vinh's great contributions to Vietnamese football in particular and Southeast Asia in general.
Throughout his career, the former striker scored 116 goals in the V.League. At the Vietnam national team level, the Nghe An player holds the record with 51 goals. In terms of individual awards, Le Cong Vinh has won 3 Vietnam Golden Balls.
