In the face of Mr. Luu Tu Bao - VBF's current Chairman - being absent for a long time, the VBF Executive Committee held a meeting on the afternoon of September 5, with 25/30 members attending.
After the meeting, the VBF Executive Committee informed about this incident. Accordingly, VBF said that Mr. Luu Tu Bao went to the US because of family work from February 2025 and had to solve some personal problems, so he could not temporarily return to Vietnam.
Mr. Luu Tu Bao will sign a power of attorney to manage VBF's activities for Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of VBF - in accordance with the provisions of the VBF's operating charter approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The time is from receipt of the authorization document until the end of March 2026.
Before receiving the authorization letter from the Chairman, the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee of VBF agreed to authorize the management of VBF to Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of VBF.
In addition, the Standing Committee and the VBF Executive Committee also authorized Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung to be the sole representative of VBF in statements related to all activities of VBF.
In its announcement, VBF also said that it has not yet received any official notice from the authorities about the personal activities of Chairman Luu Tu Bao before, or during his time in Vietnam. Mr. Luu Tu Bao's personal and legal background were confirmed by the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before he ran for the VBF Executive Committee for the second term (2023-2028).
The Standing Committee and the VBF Executive Committee agreed that in case Chairman Luu Tu Bao personally has an official conclusion from domestic and international authorities on the violation of the law; the Standing Committee and the VBF Executive Committee will organize a conference to ask for permission to organize an extraordinary Congress to elect a new chairman, ensuring the direction and smooth implementation of all activities of VBF in accordance with legal regulations and still ensuring the funding source for VBF's operations until the end of the second term (2023 - 2028).
