In the final match held on the evening of July 11 (local time), 9th seed Linda Noskova defeated Karolina Muchova with a score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 after nearly three hours of competition.
Noskova entered the game confidently when completely overwhelming in the first set, only taking 32 minutes to win 6-2. The 21-year-old player continued to maintain the advantage in the second set when leading 5-2 and stood before the opportunity to close the match.
However, Muchova created an impressive comeback. The 29-year-old player continuously successfully saved match-points, taking advantage of the opponent's stagnation to win 5 games in a row, thereby winning the second set with a score of 7-5 and bringing the match to the decisive set.
Stepping into the third set, Noskova quickly regained her composure. She broke Muchova's service game to create a safe distance before closing the match with a solid service game, officially winning Wimbledon 2026.
Right after the decisive point, Noskova collapsed on the court in emotion. This is the first Grand Slam title in the career of the Czech player, and also helps her become the third Czech female player in the last four years to win Wimbledon, after Marketa Vondrousova (2023) and Barbora Krejcikova (2024).
Speaking after the match, Noskova said she had gone through two weeks of competition with many emotional levels.
I have enjoyed these two weeks of competition a lot, experiencing both tears of sadness and happiness, along with all the sweat and blood that has been poured down here. Everything is completely worth it and I will definitely never forget this tournament," Noskova shared.
The most touching moment of the awards ceremony came when the 21-year-old tennis player turned his eyes to the stands, sending a kiss to the sky to commemorate his mother who passed away two years ago.
In addition, there is one last person I want to thank, which is my mother. I certainly wouldn't be standing here without my mother. So, thank you very much," Noskova said choked up.
The Wimbledon 2026 championship not only marks the biggest milestone in Linda Noskova's career but also becomes a meaningful gift she dedicates to commemorate her late mother, who always accompanied her on the journey to the top of world tennis.
