Athletes maintain professional stability
Athletes nationwide have competed in the 2025 National Karate Championship and this is the most specific professional assessment basis to help the coaching staff of the National Karate Team better grasp the ability to compete in each national player. We assess that key athletes in each event meet the requirements for achievements in competition, said Mr. Vu Son Ha - head of the Karate department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports).
In just 1 month, athletes, coaches and managers of karate at domestic units competed in two consecutive important tournaments of the national system of Vietnamese karate, including the 2025 National Youth Karate Championship (in Bac Ninh, early June 2025) and the 2025 National Karate Championship (in Hue city, closing on June 30). From each of the above tournaments, the actual results of the athletes are assessed as the ability and quality in the coaching work.
Coach Duong Hoang Long of the Vietnam Karate Team said that in the 2025 National Karate Championship, the team's players will return to their home team to compete. After the training process, the coaching staff's requirement is that each player must maintain the results that they have affirmed in the past.
At the 2025 National Karate Championship, important players of the national team such as Hoang Thi My Tam, Dinh Thi Huong, Nguyen Thi Ngoan, Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Pham Minh Duc... all achieved the correct Gold Medals.
The 33rd SEA Games medal is of decisive significance
Statistics show that the Vietnamese Karate Team has won consecutive Gold Medals at the 3 most recent SEA Games including the 30th SEA Games in 2019 in the Philippines (2 Gold Medals), the 31st SEA Games in 2022 in Vietnam (7 Gold Medals), the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 in Cambodia (6 Gold Medals). The Vietnamese karate team aims to win the Gold Medal at the 33-2025 SEA Games.
Preparing for the 33rd SEA Games, in June 2025, the key karate player of Vietnamese sports has completed his international mission of participating in the 2025 Asian Karate Championship and the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship.
We won Gold Medals in the above 2 tournaments. The Vietnamese karate team won 3 Gold Medals at the 2025 Asian Karate Championship (Hoang Thi My Tam in the women's 55kg weight class, women's kata team, women's kumite team).
Returning home after achieving results at the 2025 Asian tournament, athlete Hoang Thi My Tam once said: The competition in Asia is very important because the top athletes on the continent are all participating. We have played and each result is reflected in the preparation of the coaching staff".
Each Gold Medal of the 2025 Asian Championship and the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship is a true professional value. However, the Vietnam Karate Team still has to focus highly on completing the most important task, the 33rd SEA Games.
The coaching staff of the Vietnam Karate Team cautiously sets a target of striving to win 2 Gold Medals at the 33rd SEA Games. The 33rd SEA Games Karate will have 15 events.
In addition to the Vietnam Karate Team, the teams of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei... participated in the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship with important squads. We also grasp the professional preparation of each team aiming to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
The professional preparation in all events is very urgent, but the coaching staff is very cautious, ensuring correct tactics and that the players meet the requirements when competing officially," said Mr. Duong Hoang Long. After the 2025 National Karate Championship, the athletes will have a short break and then continue to return to the National Senior Athletes' Training Center for training.
