This year, the men's and women's volleyball teams participating in ASIAD 20 will comply with regulations according to the issued Disciplinary Code that they are not allowed to register more than 12 official players.
Usually at international tournaments, volleyball (indoor) will be registered with a maximum of 14 players (including 2 players participating in the libero position).
However, ASIAD always has its own characteristics. At ASIAD 19, each participating team is only allowed to register a maximum of 12 players.
This ASIAD 20, the above regulation continues to be applied in the volleyball event (indoor).
According to the official schedule just announced by the ASIAD 20 Organizing Committee, the women's volleyball (indoor) event will be held 3 days early before the Opening Ceremony.
ASIAD 20 women's teams will start competing from September 16. Women's volleyball (indoor) competition until the end of September 22.
After that, men's volleyball (indoor) will be held from September 27 to October 3. The men's and women's beach volleyball events will take place from September 20 to October 3.
Last May, the expected list of 16 teams to participate in the men's (indoor) volleyball event of ASIAD 20 was announced.
The teams include Japan (host), Iran (defending champion), Vietnam, Pakistan, South Korea, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Qatar, Bahrain, Taiwan (China), India, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong (China), Philippines.
Meanwhile, women's volleyball (indoor) is expected to have 16 participating teams including Japan (host), China (defending champion), Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Iran, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Qatar, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), Mongolia, DPRK, Philippines.
