The organizing committee of table tennis at the X-2026 National Sports Games decided to stop all competition activities on August 10, August 11, and hold a national mourning for Comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao PDR who passed away on August 8.
The tournament will return on August 12. 8.
This year, the 44th National People's Newspaper Table Tennis Championship 2026 is considered the competition program of the X-2026 National Sports Festival.
The tournament has 7 events (men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team, women's team) held at Hai Duong Gymnasium (Hai Phong).
Men's and women's team events are organized early.
Over the first 2 days, the tournament witnessed some important results such as the Army team winning 3-1 against Ho Chi Minh City team (female team), Hanoi team winning 3-1 against Ho Chi Minh City team (male team), Hai Phong team winning 3-0 against Da Nang (female team), People's Police team winning 3-1 against Khanh Hoa (male team)...
Initially, the 2 men's and women's team finals were expected to be held on the evening of August 11. With the changed schedule, the program will be postponed by 2 days compared to the initial time.
Table tennis at the X-2026 National Sports Festival attracted nearly 150 players from 15 units across the country to compete.
The organizers announced the total prize money of nearly 500 million VND. In which, men's and women's team championships have a prize of 50 million VND/prize; men's and women's singles championships receive 30 million VND/prize.
