The Organizing Committee of the 44th National People's Newspaper Table Tennis Championship 2026, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports officially announced the organizing program of this year's tournament on the morning of July 31 in Hanoi.
This year, the tournament includes 7 events including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team, women's team.
Each unit is allowed to register a maximum of 10 athletes (5 male players, 5 female players).
The tournament will have nearly 140 players from 14 units nationwide registered to compete.
The organizers said that for the X-2026 National Sports Games, the units that will participate in table tennis include: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Hung Yen, Lam Dong, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Dong Nai, Vinh Long, Tay Ninh, Ca Mau, Army, People's Police and Hai Phong.
Representative of the Organizing Committee, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, journalist Que Dinh Nguyen expressed: "This is the first time the tournament has been organized within the Congress and in the context of the arrangement and merger of provinces and cities, so the number of table tennis teams from localities and sectors participating in the tournament within the framework of the Congress has decreased compared to previous years, but the quality has increased, because localities have developed table tennis movements with professional clubs after mergers that have become very strong table tennis teams.
Besides, Vietnamese table tennis in recent years has also had professional improvements, always attracting the attention of fans nationwide with achievements achieved at recent SEA Games consecutively.
Especially the outstanding progress of young table tennis athletes in our country, showing the development potential of Vietnamese table tennis.
These are proud additional achievements of our country's table tennis, a source of excitement and strong encouragement for athletes to enter the race at the 44th National People's Newspaper Table Tennis Championship".
The entire tournament has a total prize of nearly 500 million VND. Athletes who win a gold medal in men's singles will be awarded 50 million VND, and women's singles champions will be awarded 30 million VND.
Previously, from August 3rd to August 5th, Nhan Dan Newspaper in coordination with the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation and the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will organize the 2026 Nhan Dan Newspaper National Open Table Tennis Tournament (mixed team event). The tournament will have 120 players from 20 clubs nationwide participating.
