Nearly 150 tennis players from 15 units across the country participated in the table tennis competition of the X-2026 National Sports Festival.
The opening ceremony of the tournament took place solemnly on the afternoon of August 8 at Hai Duong Gymnasium (Hai Phong).
This year, the 44th National People's Newspaper Table Tennis Championship 2026 is included in the program of the X-2026 National Sports Games.
Table tennis is the first sport of the X-2026 National Sports Games to compete fully in all contents according to the Professional Regulations of the Games that have been issued.
Table tennis has 7 sets of medals including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, men's team, women's team.
At the opening ceremony of the tournament, representative of the Organizing Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, journalist Le Quoc Minh assessed that the National Table Tennis Championship has been organized 43 times and this year is the 44th year. This year, the tournament has more important significance as it is part of the program of the X-2026 National Sports Games. Therefore, the organizing committee believes that with careful preparation in terms of facilities and teams that have registered the best athletes, the matches will take place with the highest expertise.
The men's and women's team events have been drawn to start competing from August 8.
The men's team event has registered units including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, People's Police, Army, Ca Mau, Dong Nai.
The women's team event has participating units including Hanoi, Tay Ninh, People's Police, Lam Dong, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Army, Vinh Long.
This year's tournament has a total prize of nearly 500 million VND. Players will compete in all events until the end of August 16.
