Recently, the Vietnam Department of Sports and Physical Training has decided to establish a Vietnam women's volleyball team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games with 20 members.
However, the distribution of nutritional allowances among athletes is not uniform. According to the issued decision, only 16 members (including 4 coaches) are entitled to a special nutrition regime of VND 480,000/person/day and some remaining players only receive VND 320,000/person/day - the level for athletes in the normal training period.
Regarding this, a representative of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports said that they have grasped the information and requested the volleyball department and the coaching staff to work to review the force of players enjoying nutritional regimes according to regulations when preparing for the competition.
"According to regulations, athletes on duty at the 33rd SEA Games are entitled to a nutritional allowance of 480,000 VND/day/person. At the Congress, each team is allowed to register 14 athletes to participate in the tournament, so the number of these athletes is entitled to the best regime. The remaining athletes who are not in the squad for the SEA Games will not receive high benefits.
The list of athletes participating in the SEA Games with the highest nutritional allowance is 4 coaches and 14 athletes of the two teams of men and women. However, currently, 2 female athletes are competing with Japan, so the women's team only has 4 coaches and 12 athletes receiving high benefits," he said.
In fact, the application of Circular 86/2020/TT-BTC of the Ministry of Finance is unified for all national teams, not just volleyball.
However, experts say this can have a psychological impact, affecting the training spirit of the whole team, especially when the goal of winning the SEA Games gold medal is expected to be the highest in history.
