"Sian" Neuer will return with DT Germany in the friendly match against Austria

    The Bayern Munich goalkeeper will have his first match since breaking his foot in September last year.

    Neuer is currently training with DT Germany in Italy to prepare for the 2018 VCK World Cup. He is racing against time to ensure his fitness for the tournament in Russia.

    The 32-year-old goalkeeper had previously played 30 minutes in a practice match against Germany U20 on May 28 and will have another 30 minutes to show his ability against this opponent today (May 30).

    According to German goalkeeper coach Andreas Koepke, Neuer will play in the upcoming friendly match against Austria.

    He confirmed to the media recently: That is our plan. If everything goes well, he will play this Saturday. There are no obstacles and these are necessary matches for him. The match against Austria is where Neuer has to show himself a lot.

    Head coach of DT Duc - Joachim Low is sure that if Neuer recovers 100% from injury, he will have a starting position at VCK World Cup 2018. If he does not meet this condition, the No. 1 position in Die Mannschaft's goal will belong to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

    Neuer shared on the Bundesliga homepage a few days ago: My physical condition is good. Our coaches are all very satisfied. They tried to get me back to my best. We also worked very well together at Bayern Munich so I am extremely optimistic.

    DT Duc is currently training in Italy. They will stay here until June 5, one day after the deadline for finalizing the list of 23 players arriving in Russia. Of the current 27 players, coach Joachim Low will have to remove 4 names, including 1 goalkeeper. In addition to the two goalkeepers mentioned above, the preliminary list of DT Germany includes Kevin Trapp and Bernd Leno.

    At the 2018 VCK World Cup, DT Germany was in Group F with Sweden, South Korea and Mexico. The reigning world champions will have their opening match against the DT Mexico at 22:00 on June 17 at Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow.
