The coaching staff of the Vietnamese swimming team said that members of the team (including Nguyen Huy Hoang) will come to Bali (Indonesia) today, June 11.
The 2026 Asian Open Surface Swimming Championships will officially take place from June 13 to June 15.
The Vietnamese swimming team registered 5 athletes to compete including Nguyen Huy Hoang, Mai Tran Tuan Anh, Trinh Viet Tuong (men), Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Kha Nhi (women).
The competition program set by the Asian Aquatic Sports Federation at this year's tournament is as follows: June 13th, 5km men's and women's events; June 14th, 4x1 relay event will take place. 500m mixed men's and women's; June 15th, 10km men's and women's events will take place.
The Vietnamese swimming team participated in open water swimming at the 2026 Asian Beach Games in China in April. At that time, our team had 4 players: Nguyen Huy Hoang, Mai Tran Tuan Anh, Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Kha Nhi.
The team won 2 silver medals in the men's 10km event (Nguyen Huy Hoang), 4x1.500m men's and women's medley relay and 2 bronze medals in the men's 10km event (Mai Tran Tuan Anh), women's 5km event (Vo Thi My Tien).
The Asian Open Water Swimming Championship is held every 2 years. In 2024, the Vietnamese swimming team did not send athletes to compete.
At the beginning of April this year, player Nguyen Huy Hoang was trained in China to improve his fitness before competing in the 2026 Asian Beach Games.
