The Vietnamese team registered to compete in 4/6 events, in which the women's force still has many experienced athletes such as: Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi Yen, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang... under the guidance of coaches Tran Thi Vui and Hoang Thai Xuan.
The biggest challenge for Vietnamese women's sepak takraw is Thailand, an opponent with a very strong tradition in this sport. Indonesian, Myanmar, South Korea and host Japan are also capable of competing for high achievements. In shooting, Pham Quang Huy is the hope of Vietnamese sports. At the Hangzhou ASIAD 3 years ago, this shooter won a Gold Medal in the men's 10m air pistol. Therefore, this event continues to be placed in the key group. However, with his current form, Quang Huy will have to compete fiercely if he wants to defend his achievements. Most recently, he only ranked 6th in the men's 10m air pistol final at the Asian Rifle and Handgun Championship in February. At the World Cup in May, Quang Huy also did not qualify for the final.
Vietnamese shooting also has notable faces such as Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Trang, Le Thi Mong Tuyen and Ha Minh Thanh.
