Saigon Slam Jam 2026 - a WWE-style performance wrestling event organized by Vietnam Pro Wrestling (VPW) took place on the evening of May 9 at Fox Football Stadium (HCMC), attracting about 1,000 spectators with the participation of many international and domestic wrestlers.
The highlight of the competition night was Viva Van's defense of the women's championship title against opponent Chelsea Marie from the Philippines. This was also the match that received the most enthusiastic cheers from the audience present at the event.
Vietnamese-American female wrestler Viva Van has competed in many major arenas in the US. She faced many difficulties against Chelsea Marie's fast and powerful fighting style. At one point, the Philippine female wrestler continuously dominated with beautiful throws and jumps that made the audience excited.
However, at the decisive moment, Viva Van regained control to reverse the situation and successfully defend the women's championship belt. The coordination and technical handling of the two wrestlers are considered the most outstanding highlight at Saigon Slam Jam this year.
After the match, Viva Van said that she returned to Vietnam many days early to practice, get acquainted with the arena as well as prepare carefully for the performance. The Vietnamese-born female wrestler also expressed her desire to spread the strong image of women through professional performance wrestling.
I hope my performance can inspire female audiences and those facing difficulties in life, that effort and training can help them become more confident," Viva Van shared.
Besides the match between Viva Van and Chelsea Marie, the event also featured Ares defending the VPW championship against British Horror, Hy Draco and Rocky Huynh. Ares continued to maintain his title after the main match of the show.
The event also had the special appearance of stand-up comedian Phuong Nam in the role of Ares' manager. The male artist contributed to stirring up the atmosphere with many interactions with the audience alongside the arena.
According to the Vietnam Pro Wrestling organizers, Saigon Slam Jam is built according to the model of international performance wrestling events, with many familiar competition formats such as Strong Style Match, Blindfold Match, Lucha Match or Football Field Fight.
