On May 10, representatives of the Fire and Rescue Police Department of the City Police said that the unit had just handed over 7 victims to their families and beauty salons after a rare elevator jam incident in the area.
At about 10:18 am on the same day, Command Center 114 received a report that someone was trapped at a beauty salon located on Phan Van Tri street, Ho Chi Minh City. Immediately, functional forces mobilized a specialized vehicle and 6 officers and soldiers to the scene for rescue.
Here, the working group determined that 7 women (including 4 customers and 3 employees) were trapped inside. Due to a sudden power outage, the elevator stopped in a suspended position between the 1st and 2nd floors. According to representatives of the rescue force, the space inside the elevator room was very narrow, holding 7 people at the same time caused oxygen levels to decrease rapidly. Victims began to show signs of shortness of breath and panic due to not being able to access the outside directly.
To ensure absolute safety and limit damage to the facility, the rescue team deployed a technical plan to completely cut off the power source to avoid the risk of short circuits or unexpected elevator operation. After that, the soldiers used specialized elevators to approach the 2nd floor area, open the floor door and take the victims out in turn through the escape route from above.
At 10:42 am, after more than 20 minutes of racing against time, all 7 people were successfully rescued in stable health. Currently, the cause of the power outage leading to the elevator jam is being further clarified by functional agencies.
