On September 17, the final match of Group B of the 2025 World Volleyball Championship saw Qatar beat Romania 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22).
This is Qatar's first victory in the tournament to finish 3rd overall in the group. In the remaining match, the Polish team won 3-1 against the Netherlands. Thus, the Poland and Netherlands teams have a place in the next round of Group B.
Against Qatar, the Asian men's volleyball team had the host Philippines beat Egypt 3-1 on September 16 and Iran beat Cambodia 3-1 on September 16. Meanwhile, the teams of Korea, Japan and China have played 2 matches in the group but have all failed. Experts still expect that in the final match, Korea, Japan and China will have positive results.
Certainly, Asian volleyball will have more victories because the Philippines will meet Iran in the final match of Group A on September 18.
In some other results on September 17 in Group D, the Portuguese team won 3-1 against Colombia while the American team won 3-1 against Cuba. The US and Portugal teams will enter the next round while Cuba and Colombia will be eliminated. In Group E, Bulgaria beat Chile 3-0 to advance. In Group G, Canada lost 0-3 to Turkey.
Currently, the tournament has identified some teams that will soon qualify for the next knockout round, namely the US, Bulgaria, Poland, Canada, Türkiye, and the Netherlands. The tournament will last until September 28.
