The host team Thailand passed the group stage of the 2025 World Volleyball Championship with the second place in Group A. In the final match of the group stage, coach Kiattipong and his students lost to the Netherlands with a score of 2-3 (25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 10-25, 14-16).
Thailand and the Netherlands both have seven points, but the Netherlands is first and Thailand is second when counting the confrontation. In the remaining match, Sweden beat Egypt 3-1 and ranked third. The Netherlands and Thailand teams qualified for the knockout round of 16 best teams.
In Group B played in Phuket (Thailand), Italy beat Belgium 3-1 to take the lead in the group stage. Belgium is in second place. These two teams qualified for the knockout round. Cuba beat Slovakia 3-1 in the final match, ranking third while Slovakia ranked fourth.
The results of Group C are not surprising as Brazil is in first place, France is in second place, followed by Greece and Puerto Rico. In the final match on August 26, Brazil beat Puerto Rico 3-0, France beat Greece 3-1.
A surprise happened in Group D when Argentina lost their place in the next round due to a 0-3 loss to Slovenia. The loss left Argentina third while Slovenia advanced to second place, qualifying for the round of 16 best teams. In the remaining match, the US beat the Czech Republic 3-0 to top the group. The Czech Republic team is ranked fourth.
Thus, the first 8 teams to enter the next round of the tournament are Thailand, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Brazil, France, the US, Slovenia.
On August 27, Groups E, F, G, H will compete in the final match to find the remaining eight teams to enter the next round. The Vietnam women's volleyball team will meet the Kenyan team in Group G.
