Salah, 33, played a key role in Liverpool's Premier League title in the 2024-25 season, with 29 goals and 18 assists.
The Egyptian star was voted the Football Journalists' Association's Best Player of the Year - winning nearly 90% of the votes, marking the biggest winning margin of this century. Salah is considered the strongest candidate for the PFA award.
In addition to Salah, the shortlist for the PFA award includes Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool), Declan Rice of Arsenal, Cole Palmer of Chelsea, striker Alexander Isak of Newcastle and midfielder Bruno Fernandes of Man United.
Cole Palmer, who won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in the 2023-24 season, was a surprise choice in the list, after spending a period of ups and downs with Chelsea in the 2024-25 season. In the Premier League arena last season, Palmer played 37 matches, scored 15 goals and had 9 assists.
Declan Rice is a star in Arsenal's midfield, scoring 4 goals and having 7 assists in 35 Premier League matches last season. In all competitions, Rice has 9 goals and 10 assists in 52 matches.
Swedish striker Isak scored 23 goals for Newcastle as they qualified for the Champions League and ended their 56-year thirst for titles with a League Cup title.
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes was one of the few bright spots for Man United in the club's worst season since the 1973-1974 season. In the Premier League last season, Bruno scored 8 goals and had 11 assists (according to Transfermarkt).
This year's awards ceremony will be held in Manchester on August 19.
