Gia Dinh Club has completed the procedures to rent Military Region 7 Stadium to compete in the 2025-2026 National First Division.
In the previous season, Gia Dinh played at Tan Hiep Stadium in the Second Division. Due to the facilities not meeting the requirements of the First Division, the team was forced to find a new stadium. The plan to rent Thong Nhat Stadium was not successful because 3 teams had registered to use the stadium as their home stadium. After that, Gia Dinh signed a contract with the National Defense Sports Center 2 to use the Military Region 7 stadium.
Military Region 7 Stadium has a capacity of about 20,000 spectators, used to be a familiar venue for Ho Chi Minh City football and was used in many major events such as the 2003 SEA Games and the 2007 Asian Cup. Since 2008, the stadium has not hosted professional matches but has mainly served cultural events, concerts and grassroots competitions. The return to the national tournament system means that the stadium must be renovated in many categories to meet competition standards.
In the 2025-2026 season, Ho Chi Minh City football has 6 clubs participating in the professional system. In the V.League, Ho Chi Minh City Police chose Thong Nhat Stadium, while Becamex Ho Chi Minh City used Binh Duong Stadium. In the First Division, Van Hien University and Ho Chi Minh City Youth will compete at Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City Club will choose Ba Ria Stadium, while Gia Dinh will register for Military Region 7 Stadium.
The 2025-2026 National First Division has 13 participating teams, expected to start from September 19. Previously, the preliminary round of the National Cup will take place in mid-September.
