Last night, Ki Sung-yueng and compatriot Son Heung-min had the opportunity to meet each other in the FA Cup quarter-finals. As a result, Spurs defeated the "Black swans" with a score of 3-0 and won the right to enter the semi-finals.
Before the match, at the press conference of the two teams, Ki Sung-yueng said that he and Son Heung-min have a very close relationship. This duo is both a compatriot and a player of the National Assembly Delegation of Vietnam in Kim Chi.
In addition to personal relationship issues, Ki Sung-yueng also revealed the military service of both he and Son. According to the 29-year-old midfielder, he and his best friend are ready to listen to the call of the country.
"It would be unfair for us not to fulfill our obligations to the country just because we are both famous stars in the Premier League.
There are millions of Koreans doing more important jobs than our football. They still have to perform normal military service," Ki Sung-yueng shared.
Currently, both Son and Ki are very popular players in both Korea and England. More notably is Son Heung-min, who is an iconic player of the land of Kim Chi and has just broken the scoring record in the European arena of legend Cha Bum-kun.
In Korea, although military service is mandatory for citizens, there are still exceptions. As in Son Heung-min's case, the 25-year-old midfielder will be exempted from international duties if he meets one of three conditions: South Korea reaches the World Cup semi-finals, wins the Asian Games or wins the Asian Cup.
