Vietnamese Taekwondo does not win a medal at the world junior tournament

At the end of the 2026 World Youth Taekwondo Championships, the Vietnamese martial artist did not win a medal in the events he participated in.

The Vietnamese youth taekwondo team participated in the tournament with the goal of striving for the best results.

This year, the final matches of the World Youth Taekwondo Championship ended on the evening of April 18 local time in Uzbekistan.

Vietnamese taekwondo fighters all stopped in the weight classes they participated in. We have 11 fighters participating in the sparring events.

Among these, 2 faces expected to achieve high results, Tran Ho Nhan Van (over 73kg male) and Hoang Thi Thu Huyen (44kg female), did not perform successfully.

The World Taekwondo Federation has identified the athlete's results at the 2026 World Youth Championships as one of the options to grant an official spot to participate in the 2026 Youth Olympics in October in Senegal.

The last time the Vietnamese youth taekwondo team won a medal at the World Youth Championship was in 2018. The fighter who won the only gold medal for Vietnamese youth taekwondo is Ho Thi Kim Ngan (women's 44kg).

This year, the World Taekwondo Federation organizes competitions in the 2026 World Youth Championships, including 45kg, 48kg, 51kg, 55kg, 59kg, 63kg, 68kg, 73kg, 78kg, over 78kg for men and 42kg, 44kg, 46kg, 49kg, 52kg, 55kg, 59kg, 63kg, 68kg, over 68kg for women.

At the end of the tournament, the Iranian team won the number 1 position with 4 gold medals, 3 bronze medals. The South Korean team ranked 2nd with 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze medals.
