The Vietnamese taekwondo team won 1 silver medal in the women's 53kg weight class with the achievement of martial artist Nguyen Thi Loan.
Nguyen Thi Loan entered the final of the event to compete against opponent Nivea Barros (Brazil). However, she did not win, so she received a silver medal.

Boxer Nguyen Thi Loan is the only person to achieve a medal result. Her 53kg weight class at the 2026 US Open Taekwondo Championships has had 45 fighters participate.
The combat results are scored by the World Taekwondo Federation to accumulate points for the martial artist in their pursuit of a 2028 Olympic spot.
Last year, Nguyen Thi Loan won a silver medal in the women's 53kg weight class at SEA Games 33 in Thailand. In the final at that time, she lost to host fighter Chutikan Jongkolrattanawattana.
This tournament in the US is the first international competition program in 2026 of the Vietnamese taekwondo team.
The martial artists have been professionally training since January 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for international missions in the year. Currently, the team has 1 expert, Mr. Kim Kil Tae (Korea).
