On June 16, at the Thai Nguyen Provincial Sports Stadium (Thai Nguyen City), the announcement ceremony of the 2025 muay Asian Championship took place. This is the first continental-level sporting event held locally.
Participating were Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province, member of the Provincial Organizing Committee of the Asian Championships muay and leaders of relevant departments and branches.
The 2025 muay Asian Championship will take place from June 20 to 26, with the participation of nearly 400 athletes, coaches, team leaders and referees from 25 countries and territories.
The competition events include 28 weight categories and 8 technical performances.
The Vietnamese sports delegation participated in the tournament with 50 athletes, including 6 athletes from Thai Nguyen.
This is not only an opportunity for local athletes to compete in the top arena, but also opens up an opportunity for Thai Nguyen sports to learn and accumulate experience from a continental tournament
Notably, within the framework of the tournament, the Organizing Committee will award the President's Labor Medal to 4 outstanding muay athletes.
Among them, Tran Thi Anh Tuyet - a female boxer from Thai Nguyen was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed: "Hosting the muay Asian Championship is an important step to demonstrate the new stature of Thai Nguyen on the international sports map.
The locality has carefully prepared all aspects, from facilities, healthcare, security to logistics work".
According to Mr. Ngoc, this sporting event is also a valuable opportunity to introduce to domestic and foreign friends a modern, friendly Thai Nguyen with great potential for tourism, culture and sports.
