Cars and motorbikes stalled in series after heavy rain in Lang Son

Lang Son - Prolonged heavy rain caused many central streets to be deeply flooded, many vehicles stalled.

From around 11:30 on June 16, heavy rain fell on many inner-city areas, in which, roads such as Cau Chui My Son, Phai Tran, Ngo Quyen, Ba Trieu, Phu Loc 4 were quickly covered with water, some places were flooded more than 40 cm deep. Many motorbikes and cars stalled in the middle of the road, people had to walk and find temporary shelter.

"I just went to pick up my child and the rain fell like a drizzle. Vehicles stalled, the road home was flooded like a river, said Ms. Hoang Thi Minh (residing in Tam Thanh ward).

At Phai Tran intersection, dozens of vehicles lined up to move through the deeply flooded section. Traffic police were present to guide the flow, but due to the rapid rise of the water, regulation was difficult.

Some businesses on both sides of the road said that rainwater flooded into their homes for about 15-20 minutes, wetting their belongings and goods.

"Every time it rains heavily, this place becomes a flooded spot. Every year, we have to report it but we have not seen a complete solution," said Mr. Tran Van Hoang, owner of a phone store near My Son underpass.

Talking with reporters, the leader of Lang Son City People's Committee said that he had requested wards and communes to check the drainage system and immediately handle areas at risk of severe flooding; at the same time, propagate people not to littered, to avoid clogging sewers during the rainy season.

On the same day, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 10:00 to 12:00 on June 16, Lang Son province had moderate rain, some places had heavy rain such as Bac Son 73.2mm, Nhat Hoa 53.6mm, ...

Soil moisture models show that some areas in Lang Son province are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached a saturated state.

In the next 3-6 hours, Lang Son province will continue to have rain with common accumulated rainfall from 20-50mm, some places over 80mm. Risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in Lang Son province, especially in Bac Son, Binh Gia, Cao Loc, Chi Lang, Huu Lung, Loc Binh districts, Lang Son city, Van Lang, Van Quan.

Previously, the heavy rain on the evening of June 3 also caused many areas in Lang Son City to be deeply flooded, water flooded into their houses, damaged and soaked their belongings, people could not react.
