At the 2025 VFF Standing Committee, Mr. Winston Lee - General Secretary of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) shared and highly appreciated the outstanding achievements that Vietnamese football has achieved in the past year.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Winston Lee said: I am honored to be in Vietnam today. Congratulations to Vietnamese football for starting 2025 impressively with the ASEAN Cup championship, followed by the Southeast Asian U23 championship in the middle of the year and ending the year with the SEA Games Gold medal.
According to the AFF General Secretary, the above results show that 2025 is a particularly successful year for Vietnamese football. He emphasized: It can be affirmed that 2025 is a very successful year for Vietnamese football. This success is thanks to the attention and direction of State leaders at all levels, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports, along with the great support and assistance of clubs and member organizations.
In addition, Mr. Winston Lee highly appreciated the role of fans in the development journey of Vietnamese football: This is also a common achievement of the Vietnamese people - those who always have a great love and passion for football. We have every right to be proud of these achievements.
The AFF General Secretary believes that the achievements are the result of a long-term accumulation process and the right development orientation. He cited: The results achieved today are a testament to the persistent accumulation process and the correct development orientation of Vietnamese football over the past time. Notably, in 2025, up to 7 national teams of Vietnam will qualify for the finals of AFC tournaments.
Not only making an impression in terms of expertise, the position of Vietnamese football on the international level is also increasingly affirmed. Mr. Winston Lee said: "The participation of 3 representatives of Vietnamese football in FIFA's functional committees also shows that the role and position are increasingly affirmed in the international arena", and highly appreciated the leadership role of VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan in the common successes.
Concluding the speech, the AFF General Secretary affirmed: The success of Vietnamese football is not only the pride of Vietnam but also the common pride of Southeast Asian football. We are very proud of the achievements that Vietnamese football has achieved and wish you a quick victory in the World Cup".
