On the eve of the new year 2026, President of the World Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan, and sent good wishes to Vietnamese football.
In the letter, the FIFA President expressed his appreciation for the cooperative relationship between FIFA and VFF throughout 2025. Mr. Gianni Infantino acknowledged the VFF's active support and contributions to FIFA's general activities, especially in the context of a year that world football has just experienced with many important milestones, notably organizing the FIFA Club World Cup with a new scale and format.
Looking forward to 2026, the FIFA President emphasized that this will be a year of special significance for global football. According to him, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will mark a historic turning point when it is held for the first time with the participation of 48 national teams. The tournament will be co- hosted by three countries: Canada, Mexico and the US, promising to create the largest-scale World Cup ever.
According to the plan announced by FIFA, the 2026 World Cup finals will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. President Gianni Infantino affirmed that, in addition to its sporting significance, the World Cup is a globally connected event, contributing to promoting the values of peace, solidarity and friendship between different countries and cultures.
At the end of the letter, the FIFA President sent New Year wishes for 2026, health, happiness and success to VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and his family, and expressed his hope to soon have the opportunity to meet and continue to strengthen cooperation in the coming time.
