The 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20) is the focus of Vietnamese e-sports this year, in the context that this sport is being held for the second consecutive time in the official competition program.
This is the third time Esports has participated in ASIAD, but the first time there are 11 medal-winning events, surpassing the 2018 ASIAD Games in Indonesia and 2022 ASIAD Games in China.
Among the 11 e-sports events competing at ASIAD 2026, PUBG Mobile continues to be trusted and promises to be one of the most watched competition categories.
Previously, the ASIAD 20 qualifying round of PUBG Mobile, co-organized by the Asian Olympic Council (OCA), the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF), the Vietnam Electronic Sports Entertainment Association (VIRESA), Tencent Games and VNGGames, will take place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for three days, June 19 - 21, aiming for the highest goal of Asian Games participation slots this year.
With the participation of 23 Asian teams, this is also the largest-scale event among the ASIAD regional qualifiers for e-sports. In addition, this Selection Round is also an opportunity for Asian sports fans to show their support and pride in the teams.

All teams participating in the ASIAD 2026 qualifying round - PUBG Mobile subject will start from the group stage, taking place in two days June 19 (Group A) and June 20 (Group B). 12 names with the highest achievements in both groups will enter the final day on June 21 and play 6 matches to score points.
In the end, the top 8 teams will win the right to go to Japan to compete for medals at this ASIAD. With the basic Battle Royale format, the teams will compete in two maps Erangel and Miramar. Previously, there were 4 teams directly entering the main event of ASIAD 20: China, Korea, Taiwan (China) and host Japan.
The Vietnam national team squad competing in the qualifying round will include 1 coach and 5 athletes. The members of the Vietnam National Team are all core members of the Team Flash PUBG Mobile team. This is a team that has continuously won the National Electronic Sports Championships since 2025, and even won professional PUBG Mobile tournaments in Southeast Asia.
Although the athletes all belong to the 2006-2007 generation, they are possessing rich competition experience in national and international arenas. Especially for individual athlete Nguyen Anh Quan, before that he also won a gold medal at the new SEA Esports Nations Cup 2026 at the PUBG Mobile team event.
The goal of Vietnamese e-sports at ASIAD 20 is very clear. Regarding overall achievements, we must do better than the previous Games, because the national team was very excellent when they were present in 4 bronze medal matches of 4 events but all left many regrets for fans.
At ASIAD 20, Vietnamese e-sports aims to have medals, and even strive to have silver medals," said Mr. Do Viet Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Electronic Entertainment Sports Association - VIRESA.
