The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued guidelines to invite coaches and athletes to participate in educational activities in general schools, opening up practical career opportunities for those with sports expertise and competition experience.

Athletes are qualified to be professional tour guides

Athlete Vu Thanh An said that he has received many invitations from international schools and high-quality training institutions in Hanoi to work as a collaborative teacher, instructing students to get acquainted with basic martial arts.

Vu Thanh An has experienced this role and expressed: "What I find valuable when I am invited to accompany is to help students get acquainted with the sport of martial arts. However, the pedagogical factor is always necessary. Therefore, I have to prepare very carefully the way to introduce and the way to hold plastic swords for students to initially get acquainted with.

This is an interesting experience for me, as well as some students who like to learn about martial arts.

At the recent volleyball graduation exam at the volleyball department (Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports), many students received active support from national players such as: Ca Thi Tu, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Dinh Van Duy and Tran Duy Tuyen. They accepted to participate in the test as a motivational boat teacher to help students perfect their techniques to take the final exam.

According to lecturers, the players in the competition are the ones with the most practical techniques. Therefore, their companionship is very valuable.

Priority is having a job

The above are specific examples showing that if the manager creates conditions to use the right people with sports expertise, coaches and athletes always bring effective value.

In Official Dispatch No. 5215/BGDDT-GDPT dated September 3, 2025, guiding the invitation of experts, artisans, artists, coaches, and athletes to participate in educational activities in general schools issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, it is stated that schools need to have specific plans and suitable to practical conditions for their needs to invite capable people to work together.

According to the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training, those invited to participate in educational activities in high schools must meet the following criteria: Coach with a diploma or coaching certificate issued by a competent authority or with experience in training athletes who have won awards in high-performance sports tournaments; have practical experience in training and coaching; Athletes who have achieved athletic level 1 or higher or won medals and awards in high-performance sports tournaments.

Last August, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports organized a Career Guidance Workshop for Vietnamese athletes. The conference recorded many opinions from experts, managers in the sports field and shared by former players such as Luu Thi Thanh (cloud bridge), Pham Phuoc Hung (fitness equipment), Nguyen Thi Le Dung (battle)...

The problem of finding a job after retirement is always a topic of concern for coaches and athletes. Vietnamese sports are still finding solutions to help athletes proactively prepare for the future, be ready to integrate into the labor market and continue to contribute good values to society. At this time, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Letter No. 5215/BGDDT-GDPT dated September 3, 2025, so the signal about jobs for sports workers in schools will be very promising.
