According to Ms. Vu Thi Khuong - Principal of Khanh Thuong Primary School (Ba Vi Commune, Hanoi), since the beginning of August, the school has deployed preparations for students' lunch. The directives of the Hanoi People's Council and People's Committee are disseminated on the Fanpage, class groups and through homeroom teachers for parents to understand. After that, the school issued a registration form and compiled a report to the Commune People's Committee. After the locality transferred the list of catering units, the school established a contractor selection council.
The highlight is the remarkable increase in the rate of students participating in boarding this year. Of the total 680 students, 640 students registered to eat at school, compared to only 220 students in the previous school year. Parents are very excited. In this area, more than 60% of students are children of ethnic minorities, and their lives are still difficult. The city's support for boarding meals is a humane policy, not only reducing the cost burden for families but also helping them have better conditions to study and practice," Ms. Khuong shared.
In addition to parents' consensus, the biggest challenge at present is the facilities for boarding. Khanh Thuong School has 21 classes but only 7 classes have tables, the remaining 14 classes have to take advantage of department rooms or vacant rooms for students to eat and rest. To overcome this, the school has equipped hard cushions to replace wooden stalls - both light, easy to clean and convenient for moving. Music and art rooms are also used as dining and sleeping places. The school has bought additional blankets, mattresses, and pillows to serve the children's boarding needs.
Not only Khanh Thuong, Van Hoa Primary School (Yen Bai commune) also faces difficulties in facilities. Mr. Phung Hai Nam - Principal - said that last year, only 1/3 of students registered for boarding meals. This year, with the city's support policy, nearly 100% of parents have registered.
The school and the locality are rushing to complete the procedures so that from September 8, students can have lunch at school, said Mr. Nam.
The biggest difficulty at Van Hoa primary school is the tables and chairs for meals and boarding. Recently, Yen Bai commune approved the purchase of 100 sets of specialized tables and chairs to serve the boarding students, but due to the unfinished bidding procedures, they have not been handed over to the school. To temporarily resolve the issue, the school has sourced 30-40 sets of tables and chairs from another school. According to Mr. Nam, despite many difficulties in facilities, the school's sense of responsibility, local cooperation and parents' consensus are creating a premise for the boarding policy to be effectively implemented.
