The Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association has been announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be awarded 2 official slots. We will have athletes participating in the men's 200m butterfly and women's 100m freestyle events. The list of athletes meeting the standards to participate in the 2026 Youth Olympics will be announced by the Vietnam Aquatic Sports Association in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese wrestling team has just been announced by the IOC to be awarded 3 official slots to participate in the beach wrestling event at the 2026 Youth Olympics. The slots awarded belong to the 60kg men's, 90kg men's and 45kg women's events. According to the coaching staff of the Vietnamese wrestling team, the 2026 Youth Olympics slot was awarded to Vietnamese athletes after the World Wrestling Federation considered the results from the 2025 U17 World Youth Championship.
Thus, up to this point, Vietnamese sports has temporarily had 5 official slots to participate in the 2026 Youth Olympics. The Games will take place from October 31st to November 13th in Dakar (Senegal). The 2026 Youth Olympics competes in 25 official sports.
4 years ago, Vietnamese sports participated in the 2018 Youth Olympics in Argentina and won 2 gold medals. The above achievements respectively belonged to Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming) and Ngo Son Dinh (weightlifting).
Vietnamese sports teams are still actively participating in some international programs to win more slots to compete in the 2026 Youth Olympics before the Organizing Committee decides the official list to compete.
