According to this decision, the goalkeeper born in 1992, full name Le Giang Patrik, officially became a Vietnamese citizen.
Patrik Le Giang is currently playing for Ho Chi Minh City Police Club. Previously, this overseas Vietnamese goalkeeper had a period of playing in Europe and joined Vietnamese football in 2023, used to play for Ho Chi Minh City Club before moving to Ho Chi Minh City Police and quickly became a pillar in goalkeeping.
Completing the citizenship procedures for Patrik Le Giang is part of the orientation to enhance professional quality, towards important goals of Vietnamese football in the coming time.
The proposal to naturalize this player was made by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism based on a comprehensive assessment of professional ability, international competition experience as well as stable performance in recent professional seasons.
According to professional assessments, Patrik Le Giang is a goalkeeper who grew up from the European football environment, has a good physical, technical and tactical thinking foundation. The process of playing in the V.League shows that this player maintains stable form, making positive contributions to the achievements of the managing clubs.
It is known that the Law on Vietnamese Nationality in 2025 with a number of amendments and supplements has been promulgated to meet the requirements of nationality management in the context of increasingly deep international integration and the increase of the Vietnamese community abroad.
Compared to previous regulations, the new law regulates in the direction of creating more favorable conditions for people applying to naturalize or return to Vietnamese nationality, especially people of Vietnamese origin, while still ensuring strict legality.
In the field of sports, the addition of athletes and players with high professional qualifications, international competition experience and long-term dedication is considered in line with the spirit and orientation of the Law on Vietnamese Nationality in 2025.
Patrik Le Giang's naturalization into Vietnam is expected to contribute to improving the professional quality of domestic football, especially in the goalkeeper position in the coming time.
