U23 Vietnam has officially finalized the list of 23 players participating in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers. Notably, overseas Vietnamese player Tran Thanh Trung did not participate due to minor health problems. In the technical meeting on the morning of September 2, the coaching staff decided not to register his name in the competition list.
This is unfortunate information, because Thanh Trung was expected to bring a new look to the U23 Vietnam attack. However, the coaching staff affirmed that this young player still has the opportunity to participate in the long-term plan, especially the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.
In this training session, U23 Vietnam is considered to have a fairly even force. Many faces that have won the U23 Southeast Asian championship such as Van Khang, Dinh Bac, Xuan Bac, Hieu Minh or goalkeeper Trung Kien continue to participate. These young players have all maintained good form thanks to regular appearances in the V.League, bringing confidence to coach Kim Sang-sik and his team.
According to the match schedule, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Bangladesh on September 3, U23 Singapore on September 6 and U23 Yemen on September 9, at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).
Among them, U23 Yemen is considered the most formidable opponent with many players who have played for the national team.
