Future hopes
In the last 2 years (2024), the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Vietnam Volleyball Federation have been more active in focusing on training young women's volleyball players.
It is easy to see that the Vietnam Volleyball Federation focuses on the task of competing in the 2024 Asian Youth Women's Volleyball Championship (U20) and the 2025 World Youth Women's Volleyball Championship (U21). Therefore, the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team was established in the past.
The coach responsible for coaching the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team - Mr. Nguyen Trong Linh frankly shared: "The VTV Cup 2025 International Women's Volleyball Tournament is a lucky opportunity for us to participate and compete professionally. After a period of training, the coaching staff also wanted to test the players' abilities. Our young players who want to mature will need important matches like this.
In Mr. Linh's wish, young Vietnamese volleyball players also need to participate in age groups in Southeast Asia or Asia because that is an opportunity for us to best develop the ability to find future successors.
The Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team registered for the VTV Cup 2025 International Women's Volleyball Tournament, including 14 players: Ngo Thi Bich Hue, Pham Thi Quynh Huong, Lai Thi Khanh Huyen, Vi Thi Yen Nhi, Pham Thi Yen Nhi, Bui Thi Anh Thao, Vo Thi Thao Nguyen, Nguyen Lan Vy, Trinh Huynh Bao Ngoc, Dang Thi Hong, Nguyen Phuong Quynh, Le Thuy Linh, Le Nhu Anh, Ha Kieu Vy.
In terms of expertise, each of the above players is a promising face in developing good abilities. If they achieve the best performance in matches in major tournaments, they will be able to mature enough to be a pillar of Vietnamese women's volleyball in the near future.
Previously, when debuting in youth tournaments, players Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa and Tran Thi Thanh Thuy were also given the opportunity to compete in many tournaments to gain more experience and become top players of Vietnamese women's volleyball.
Currently, the players of the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team are between the ages of 18 and 20, so they still need to accumulate experience.
Stepping into the world tournament to succeed
Coach Nguyen Trong Linh expressed that the task of competing with good results at the 2025 World Youth Women's Volleyball Tournament (U21 age group) (in Indonesia, from August 7 to 17.) is the most important goal. Therefore, the coaching staff has carefully developed a professional practice curriculum since the beginning of the training program.
For the first time in history, Vietnamese volleyball has a team that has won an official spot to the world youth tournament. We determine to compete with efforts to achieve results while learning from experience from world volleyball backgrounds.
"Competing in the tournament is not only a task of achieving professional results but also a responsibility and honor for Vietnamese youth women's volleyball. We really want each athlete to focus on their expertise to best demonstrate their abilities because winning an official spot in the above tournament is not easy at all, coach Nguyen Trong Linh shared.
Players of the 2025 Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team have been trained professionally for nearly a month in Quang Ninh. Although not competing, all the players attended all the matches of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team in the recent AVC Nations League 2025 in Dong Anh (Hanoi). This is a requirement for players to study and gain more experience through practical tournaments.
Seeing live matches, players understand how situations will be specifically resolved and we believe they will accumulate more effectively for themselves, Mr. Linh expressed.
Meanwhile, expert Karl Lim, who accompanies the physical training of the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team, assessed that if the young Vietnamese team has many good players, if their abilities are maximized, they will achieve the strength of a professional volleyball hitter.
