On the afternoon of August 1, the Vietnam women's volleyball team had their opening match in the 2025 SEA V.League against Indonesia.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team showed their superior strength in the first 2 sets with a victory by a margin of 25-11%.
In set 3, the Vietnamese team made adjustments and was fiercely pursued by the opponent. However, the brilliance of Kieu Trinh and Nhu Quynh still helped the home team win 25-22, thereby winning 3-0 in the opening match.
This victory helped the Vietnam women's volleyball team gain an additional 4.11 points, thereby rising to 24th place on the world rankings, up 3 places compared to the time before the SEA V.League started (ranked 27th).
This is also the highest ranking of Vietnamese women's volleyball ever, accurately reflecting the form and strength of the national team after many successful tournaments.
2025 marks an important step forward when for the first time, the Southeast Asian International Volleyball Championship - SEA V.League is recognized by FIVB as an official tournament for calculating ranking points.
With 2 rounds of competition in this tournament system, the Vietnam women's team will have more opportunities to accumulate points, thereby improving their ranking in the coming time.
According to the match schedule, after the opening match, Thanh Thuy and her teammates will face the Philippines at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow (August 2) and Thailand at 5:00 p.m. on August 3.
