The Vietnam women's volleyball team has just made an important adjustment in the middle blocker position before leaving for Thailand to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
In the list updated by the Congress homepage, young middle blocker Le Nhu Anh appeared to replace her senior Nguyen Thi Trinh.
This change surprised many fans, but at the same time opened up a great opportunity for Nhu Anh as this was the first time she participated in a regional sports festival.
The addition of personnel close to the tournament start date has somewhat affected the tactics of the entire team, especially when the Vietnam women's team is in the process of perfecting its squad and playing style.
However, the coaching staff also believes in Nhu Anh's stable blocking ability and enthusiastic competitive spirit.
On the other hand, the absence of Nguyen Thi Trinh forced the coaching staff to calculate personnel appropriately. This is the second change in the squad after the inability of opposite Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen.
The 2000-born hitter scored 45 points in the victory over Thailand in the second leg of the 2025 SEA V.League, contributing greatly to the championship at home. However, she withdrew from the 33rd SEA Games for personal reasons.
The absence of important linkages is also part of the reason why the team's goals at this year's SEA Games have changed.
Accordingly, the sports industry adjusted the target from gold to silver medals to reduce pressure on young players and ensure a stable mentality when entering the tournament.
Currently, Vietnam still possesses a force of sufficient depth with the return of Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, alongside pillars such as Bich Thuy, Nhu Quynh, Le Thanh Thuy, Khanh Dang and Kim Thanh.
In the group stage, Vietnam is in Group B with Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia, a group that is considered favorable to aim for a ticket to the semi-finals.
