On the afternoon of March 1st, in Nonthaburi (Thailand), the Association of Southeast Asian Football (AFF) held a draw ceremony for the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship. The event was attended by Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Anh Tu.
According to the draw results, the Vietnamese futsal team is in Group A with host Thailand, Myanmar and Timor-Leste. This is considered a highly competitive group when Thailand is a team with a rich tradition and owns many outstanding achievements in the regional futsal arena. Meanwhile, Myanmar is also an opponent with a physically strong playing style, causing many difficulties for teams in the region.

In Group B, defending champion Indonesia will compete with Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia and Brunei. The presence of many strong teams is predicted to create fierce races for two semi-final spots.
Before the draw, the teams were divided into 5 seed groups, in which group 1 included Thailand (host) and Indonesia; group 2 included Vietnam and Australia; group 3 included Malaysia and Myanmar; group 4 included Timor-Leste and Cambodia; group 5 included Brunei.
According to the plan, the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship will take place from April 5 to 11 at Nonthaburi Provincial Gymnasium. Group stage matches will take place from April 5 to 7, the top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals (April 9). The final match will be held on April 11.
